BIOBONDAGE BIRDY ON CANVAS
After one first try on paper, this second canvas inspires me to keep creating. I had done an initial sketch on paper beforehand and was pleased with the result. I now have more space on the canvas, and this canvas has been carefully prepared with several layers of gesso, each sanded down between .
I’m discovering aspects of my personal work that I didn’t know existed. When I take a break, I let the color… and at night, with my mind free, I draw endlessly in black and white. I’ve made about 4,000 to 5,000 sketches in three years. That’s when we can start talking about a body of work. It still takes time to translate them onto canvas and into sculpture—later as bas-reliefs—and then to promote them in France and internationally.
A version featuring one or two birds as a pair is in the works.
